About the role

As an AI Product Engineer at AIRA Health, you will design and build AI-powered features that transform how clinical teams work with documents, data, and regulatory content. You'll work at the intersection of large language models, clinical domain knowledge, and product engineering to create intelligent workflows that save thousands of hours in clinical development.

What you'll do

  • Design and build AI-powered features using large language models and modern ML infrastructure
  • Develop intelligent document processing pipelines for clinical and regulatory content
  • Build and optimize retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems for domain-specific knowledge bases
  • Collaborate with clinical domain experts to ensure AI outputs meet regulatory-grade accuracy standards
  • Implement evaluation frameworks to measure and improve AI model performance
  • Ship end-to-end features from model integration to user-facing UI
  • Contribute to prompt engineering, fine-tuning strategies, and model selection decisions
  • Stay current with the latest advances in AI/ML and identify opportunities for product innovation

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience with strong Python and/or TypeScript skills
  • Hands-on experience building products with LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source models)
  • Experience with vector databases, embeddings, and RAG architectures
  • Strong understanding of software architecture and system design principles
  • Ability to work full-stack — comfortable with both backend services and frontend integration
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Nice to have

  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or clinical data
  • Background in NLP, information extraction, or document understanding
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and GxP validation
  • Experience with clinical trial data standards (CDISC, SDTM, ADaM)
  • Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects
